Overview This plugin includes LaTeX math expressions as gif images using mimeTeX within content items. It is based on the 'MSV Texbot' mambot of Andrés Felipe Vargas for Mambo. It has been rewritten to work with Joomla 1.5.x. The default installation uses Forkosh's mimetex.cgi to generate images. Thus, no TeX installation is needed. If you need more information about mimetex, please visit http://www.forkosh.com/mimetex.html DownloadThe plugin can be downloaded at: here. How to useEncapsulate a TeX expression within a {tex} tag in your content item. For example, {tex}c^2=a^2+b^2{/tex} would display this:

Thank you very much for the plugin...
I think this is the ultimate in typesetting quality for a math formula plugin. It works the same way as bot_mimetex, just be sure to enable it (disable or de-install bot_mimetex) and encapsulate your LaTeX code between {tex}...{/tex} tags.
Anachronist, don't be so humble. The project is open source. Everyone is free to modify the code the way they want it. I modified bot_mimetex from someone else's work, too.
Cheers,
Minh-Tri
"If latex is installed on your server then see mathTeX, the successor to mimeTeX. It's based on real LaTeX and renders higher quality images than mimeTeX. If latex is not available on your server, continue using mimeTeX."
Well, this plugin, bot_mimetex, fetches math formula images remotely, so there's no need for LaTeX on your server if we can do the same thing with mathTeX. So, I have modified Pham-Minh Tri's excellent plugin to work with mathTeX instead of mimeTeX. Sure enough, the output is somewhat improved.
You can download my version called bot_mathtex from the blog article I wrote comparing different ways of editing math equations in a Joomla environment. The article is at http://arcadiaresearch.com/blog/comparison-of-blog-friendly-math-equation-editors.
Pham-Minh Tri, you are welcome to make it available on your web site. It's your work, after all. All I did was replace all occurrences of 'mime' with 'math' in each file.
thanks
Do you think the minetex.cgi file has not been unpacked? If so how do I fix this?
{tex}\int_a^b f(x)\, dx{/tex}
Best regards and Happy Lunar New Year,
